Wildlife: Sick or Injured Animals

Wildlife: What to do if you find a sick or injured animal.

Wildlife animals are wild, unpredictable, and dangerous. They can injure you and they can spread disease. Sick or injured animals are even more dangerous and unpredictable. If you see or find a sick or injured animal, give it space, keep people and pets away from the animal and contact the Sterling Police at 978-422-7331. Do not attempt to catch or handle wildlife animals on your own.

Animal Control Officers, Environment Police Officers, Wildlife Rehabilitators, Veterinarians, and Mass Wildlife are all trained to catch and handle these animals safely and they have vaccinations that you do not. Let those who are properly trained and vaccinated to handle wild animals be the ones to do it.
