Volunteer Opportunities

Congregate Meals: Volunteers prepare the daily scratch-cooked congregate meals in our kitchen, they prepare the dining hall, assist guests and wash the dishes. There are many volunteer roles focused around daily congregate meals - something for everyone!
Senior Transport: In addition to our van transport program, we have volunteers that use our electric car to transport seniors to appointments.
Meals on Wheels: Volunteers deliver food to the homes of Sterling seniors from the Senior Center. Early morning volunteers (7:30-8:30am) receive meals from MOC and prepare them for the delivery drivers.
Friendly Visitor: Volunteers support isolated seniors through weekly contact which provides social support and a connection to the community.
Reception: Volunteers on the front desk are the warm, friendly folks who welcome guests to the Sterling Senior Center, answer phones and support the staff.
Grocery Shopper: Volunteers picked up baked goods from area grocery stores, fruit and veggies from farm stands, etc. Volunteers also shop in grocery stores for the Senior Center congregate meals program.
Food Pantry: Volunteers deliver packages to Sterling Seniors from Food Pantries.

Intergenerational Programs: In partnership with Chocksett and Houghton Schools, senior volunteers interact with students for reading, art and peer leader programs.

Other opportunities are available as listed on (but not limited to) the volunteer application form !
