The Town of Sterling is a member of the Wachusett Regional School District. Our children attend the Houghton Elementary School (grades Kindergarten through 4) and the Chocksett Middle School (grades 5 through 8), both of which are located on Boutelle Road in Sterling. Children in grades 9 through 12 attend the Wachusett Regional High School in Holden. Sterling students who wish a technical/vocational education may attend the Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School in Fitchburg.

Wachusett Watershed Regional Recycle Center
131 Raymond Huntington Highway, West Boylston
Accepting all reuse, bulk, recycle and electronics (some with fee).
The Wachusett Watershed Regional Recycle Center is open to residents of seven Wachusett Towns: Boylston, Holden, Paxton, Princeton, Rutland, Sterling and West Boylston. The collection is provided by Wachusett Earthday, the Department of Conservation and Recreation, and the seven Towns.
The Center welcomes bicycles, seashells, evergreen cones, small smooth stones, yarn, home goods, reusable furniture, crafts, sporting goods and appliances for swap or to be passed on to families in need.
There is a charge for disposal of furniture, hazardous materials and appliances. Please check the Recycle Center Home page for more information.

Directions to the Wachusett Watershed Regional Recycling Center: I-190, Exit 5, north one block on Route 140 to light, left on Legg Road and travel 0.8 mile to the entrance on the right. Or Laurel Street, West Boylston or Manning Street, Holden to Raymond Huntington Highway (parallel with I-190 at Holden/West Boylston town line), and travel 0.9 mile to the entrance on the left.
Please NOTE: This operation is manned by volunteers. The days/times may increase or decrease without prior notice, when there are not enough volunteers to handle the work or if it is unsafe to be working outside. Always check the website to see if the center is open.

Please submit your application, even if the committee or board you wish to serve on currently has no openings. Vacancies occur frequently, often without much advance notice. Having your application on file allows committees and boards to fill vacancies faster.
