George E. Peesoe Memorial

Sterling Police Department

On September 19, 1919, Officer George E. Peesoe of the Sterling Police Department was shot and killed during the line of duty.  Officer Peesoe responded to a call to the Sterling Inn ad was shot by a suspect while the suspect was being hand-cuffed.  Below are some of the images from the Worcester Telegram printed on September 20 and 21, 1919, photos of the memorial and the holding cell.
