The Town of Sterling Department of Public Works has enacted water use restrictions effective August 16, 2016. A Drought Warning has been issued for the Central Massachusetts region by the Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary.
Due to severe drought conditions OUTDOOR WATER USE IS BANNED. The only exception to this rule is that edible vegetable plants may be watered by hand held hoses and/or watering cans only.
Public water users should ABIDE BY THESE RESTRICTIONS. Violations of the water regulations are subject to enforcement fines of up to $200 including water being shut off for 24 hours with a charge to resume water service.
