We maintain approx.7.5 acres of parks including Sholan Park on Lake Waushacum and the Memorial Area behind the fire station.
Sholan Park is open Noon to 8:00 p.m. (weather permitting) from the day school gets out until Labor Day. There are picnic tables, fireplaces and charcoal grills available for use during the summer season. There is also a sand volleyball court (bring your own volleyball) and a paved half court basketball court. There is also a boat ramp at the end of Hall Ave. next to Sholan Park. If you plan to utilize Lake Waushacum for boating we strongly urge you to take a safe boating class from either the US Coast Guard Auxiliary or the US Power Squadron (US Coast Guard Auxiliary Boating Safety Info).
Parking (car or trailer) at the Park is limited to Town residents only and a sticker is required. This sticker can be obtained free of charge at the DPW office (please bring your car's registration with you). The same sticker also allows you to use the drop off recycling center.
If you are a resident and wish to bring guests to Sholan Park for the day (or several days) you can obtain a temporary parking permit for their car from the DPW office. We will need their name, registration number and dates they will be visiting. This permit must then be placed on their car dashboard.
The Memorial Area is the site of our Memorial Day and Veterans Day formal ceremonies. It has a gazebo in one corner and the Recreation Dept. holds various functions there also.
In the winter an ice skating rink is set up in the park near Cross Street by the Recreation Dept.
